The EUR/HKD chart illustrates the euro's relationship with the Hong Kong dollar. The euro, which is issued by the European Central Bank, is the world's second most traded currency. It is the official currency of 17 countries and is used by the European currency bloc known as the Eurozone. The EUR is regarded as the world's second reserve currency. Hong Kong's currency, the Hong Kong dollar, is issued independently under the supervision of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the city's local regulator.
The euro is the European Union's monetary unit and currency, denoted by the sign €. It was first introduced as a non cash monetary unit in 1999, then as currency notes and coins in 2002. The euro replaced the currencies of participating EU countries as well as certain non-EU countries.
The Hong Kong dollar (HK$; code: HKD) is the official currency of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It's broken down into 100 cents and 1000 mils. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority is in charge of Hong Kong's monetary policy and the Hong Kong dollar.
