This is the Euro to Australian Dollar exchange rate. The value of one Euro ('base currency') is expressed in Australian Dollars ('counter currency') in this quote. In the midst of the European sovereign debt crisis in 2012, the EUR/AUD hit an all-time low of A$1.1619. The pair has largely recovered since mid-July 2012, thanks to the European Central Bank's (ECB) policy of Outright Monetary Transactions (OMT), the "whatever it takes" measure threatened by ECB President Mario Draghi in August 2012.
